Natalie fell asleep in my lap during church. One of her arms was peeking out of her blanket and her hand was curled into a little fist. Justin saw it, reached over, and gave her a fist bump.
Ethan gave his first talk in Primary. He talked about how when we serve others, we serve God.
Wally, our Christmas Elf, is back. The boys get so excited to look for him every morning when they wake up.
Realizing that our new church building is the exact same layout as our church building in Layton. Sitting in the Mother's room and rocking Natalie brought back lots of memories of rocking Ethan, and then Justin while bonding with the other new moms. It made me really nostalgic.
Watching Hallmark's movie "November Christmas" and remembering that I can do hard things. And that sometimes it's more important to forget about my own sadness (which can be a little debilitating), and concentrate on bringing happiness into the lives of my children.

What made me smile yesterday was watching your kids decorate the Christmas tree. They were so excited about unwrapping every ornament.
What is your Christmas Elf tradition?
I love all the Hallmark/ABC family/ETC. movies that come out this month. Brett laughs at me but there are some good ones out there.
Rebecca and Meagan also gave talks on the same topic. I also know you can do hard things! Rebecca's primary talk was based on a story from the friend mag. about a girl who had to do the dishes (actually two nights worth of dishes) when she didn't want to and she prayed and that helped her do it. Heavenly Father helps us do hard things and easy things we aren't in the mood to do. Her talk was for me. Last week and this week are tough ones. I absolutely love Primary.

We have a book called The Elf on the Shelf. It comes with a toy elf that you get to name. The book explains that Santa sent you one of his scout elves to keep an eye on you leading up to Christmas. Every night, the elf goes back to the North Pole to report on whether you've been naughty or nice, and every night he comes back to your house and hides in a different place. So, every morning, the boys wake up and get to find where Wally is that day. It's a cute idea, but I had no idea how much the boys would get into it. It's really a lot of fun for them, and it's fun for us to see them so excited about it.
fist bump HA! love it. Good lessons to remember this time of year. Especially when it is easier to be depressed than holiday cheery.
